12th Nov 2005

The final shot of the day on this occasion was meant to produce another 37-hauled service, but to my surprise, and probably to my dismay at the time, a Valley Lines "Pacer" turned up! Nevertheless, it's part of the story and the image is still quite appealing, thanks to the bright and low winter sun. At 13.46 "Pacer" 143614 provides the accommodation for the 2F30 13.15 Rhymney to Cardiff Central service, seen here leaving Ystrad Mynach. This unit is one of the few of this type still working in South Wales at the time of writing (2018), as many of this class are now part of the GWR fleet.
