(2) Feeling blue? Looking back from the train at 14.02 we see "Lady Nan", a Barclay 0-4-0ST dating back to 1920, diminutive in size but lots of character. This engine served industry in both Hurlford and Kilmarncok before being retired in the 1960s and then stored in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, before being rescued and restored. At one point the loco was even advertised for sale in the Exchange & Mart - but didn't sell! She has been at the E.S.R. ever since, arriving in 1974.
The TSO has been based on the Nene Valley Railway so I wonder if this has been at Cranmore for contract repairs and refurbishment? It certainly looks great in this colour scheme, reminding me of good times travelling by train in the 1970s and 80s.
