22nd Nov 1988 - Bristol Temple Meads & Bath Road TMD
One of the few selected locos to be repainted into faux-GWR green in celebration of the Great Western Railway 150th celebrations of 1985, 47628 "Sir Daniel Gooch" stands on the down through road waiting to depart with a west-bound parcels service. The driver obviously thought he had been waiting too long as I noted that he got out of the cab to call the signalman, and soon after got the green light!

One of the original Western Region "namers", as 47078, no. 47628 ultimately met its end in Rotherham at the hands of the scrap man, in 2006. By then it was part of the RES fleet and numbefred 47752.
