26th April 1986

Waiting for the "right-away", the driver of 45126 is looking back down towards the train dispatcher (guard in my day!) in the classic pose of an engineman. I love this shot, showing the character of the railway during the 1980s, when footplate men were always much older and more experienced, true professionals of their trade. And smartly turned out too! The loco would be heading off onto Bath Road depot.
