23rd Dec 1983

In my early days of visiting Temple Meads, and to the platform end opposite Bath Road depot, there always seemed to be an endless procession of locos coming on and off shed. So I took plenty of pictures, all pretty much the same view as this one, with the old Royal Mail sorting office as a backdrop. Two days before Christmas here is one of the Western Region named "Duffs", no. 47085 "Mammoth". Not sure if it's coming or going! Of all the 47 "namers" at the time, "Mammoth" was one of the more elusive ones.
