Here is a close up of the Fugro Railmap equipment as attached to 66848. As I understand the equipment is used to create a 3D image of the trackbed and surrounding environment, allowing engineers to assess what maintenance might be required in the future from the comfort of their office. It's light years away from the days of the lengthsman!
