EWS Class 56 no. 56060 is passing through Newport, heading towards the North & West Route at 10.06 with the 6B92 09.35 Newport Alexandra Dock Junction - Pontrilas loaded timber.
I had always thought of Pontrilas as a loading point for timber, not a destination, but I can only assume that these 7 loaded OTA timber wagons were going to be forwarded on from there to somewhere like the Kronospan processing plant at Chirk. It certainly where 56060 was heading as it returned a few hours later light engine. The sidings at Pontrilas now stand rusting away as this traffic has since finished.
