7th July 1999

(1) When I look at this shot it reminds me that so much changed over the past 20 or so years. RES-liveried Class 47 no. 47771 "Heaton" is slowly running through platform 1 with the 6M90 Alexandra Dock Junction to Bescot "Enterprise" wagonload train, comprising one ECC china clay slurry tank and a rake of loaded OTA timber wagons. I'm guessing that the timber will be tripped back to Pontrilas after arrival in Birmingham. The train paused for 7 minutes, between 10.58 and 11.05. On the right an MGR from Grange Sidings to Llanwern has stopped on the through road.
