This wide angle view provides a lovely vista of ex-Southern Railway S15 4-6-0 no. 828 battling with the relatively slight grade at the beginning of Honiton Incline, seen from the road between Kilmington and Whitford. This is Pathfinder Railtour's "Exe-Parrett" railtour from Wolverhampton to Exeter St. Davids, and return, via Bristol, Westbury, Yeovil, Exeter, and then returning via the ex-GWR line to Bristol and the West Midlands.
The train was really struggling at this point, so I assume that there was poor coal, poor driving, or some other problem on board. Certainly the exhaust display made this shot, helped by the cool, sunny autumn day. My notes tell me that the train stalled further up the incline, but must have built up further steam to enable it to continue.
