Freightliner's 66565 on a rare visit to “the mule”!
An overnight rail-drop near Exmouth Junction brought Freightliner Class 66 no. 66565 through Chard Junction at 08.08 - operating as the 6C97 07.35 Pinhoe to Westbury Down T. C. At this point the train was about 30 mins ahead of schedule. It was booked to recess in Axminster loop for 30 minutes but I suspected it wouldn’t, and it didn’t! Good job I left home early!
I had noticed that on Saturday Colas "Grids" nos. 56302 and 56049 had been mustered together at Westbury, and had the feint hope that they might have ben rostered for this train. But my wishes were dashed as they were sent eastwards instead to Acton. Oh well, no Grids on the mule today!
