The Class 56 "Grid" that almost made it to preservation! No. 56040 "Oystermouth" has a rake of Tiphook Rail bogie hoppers in tow on an unknown service of loaded stone. Bought by the Class 56 Preservation Society it was let go after the extent of work needed to repair it, and the availability of a better example, sealed the loco's fate and it was scrapped in 2012.
On the right is 2-car class 108 Derby unit no. 956 on a Weymouth to Westbury or Bristol train. This unit was withdrawn around a year or two later and at least one car, no. 51939, was scrapped in 1991, after incineration at the scrapyard at Snailwell.
