Light engine Class 56 no. 56036 heads back to Westbury, after visiting Whatley Quarry with an empty train. A Class 08 and brake van have appeared round the bend and will head back into the down yard. The White Horse stands sentinel, as it has for centuries.
No. 56036 was a bit of a celebrity in its day, being the first BR loco to be adorned with what was known as "large logo" livery - BR blue body, yellow cab ends and sides and a full-height BR logo on the side. It became an iconic scheme loved by everyone. By the time of this photo it had received BR's first Railfreight grey livery.
