18th April 1989

This is an interesting collection of vehicles making up the northbound Railfreight Speedlink train from Salisbury and Eastleigh. I'm going to make a wild guess and suggest that those smart-looking 4-wheel VAA vans are for military traffic from Millbrook or Ludgershall. But those ARC stone hoppers are a mystery, normally being part of company block trains. Going for repair perhaps? Class 47/0 no. 47018 heads away and will take a left towards Bath and Bristol. A Class 50 in NSE livery is stabled near the signal box.
