I like this image of EWS Class 66 no. 66102 for a number of reasons. First of all, it is a well-lit "roster" shot in the late afternoon sun, standing at platform 3 (17.05). Secondly, it shows just how bright the EWS maroon used to be. When you see these locos today they are so much more drab and dull. Finally, this was a fairly rare visitor to the south as it was one of the small batch of 66s fitted out with RETB (Radio Electronic Token Block) equipment for operating the West Highland and Far North lines, so it is a little "off route" at Eastleigh! Also noticeable is the lack of rear view mirrors, a later addition to the locos.
