A celebrity "Duff" belonging to Freightliner approaches on the 4O27 05.00 Coatbridge to Southampton service, a long-distance train indeed! This is 47114 "FreightlinerBulk" in its two-tone green livery, plus Freightliner logo, passing the East yard at 17.20. It stops at platform 3 for a crew change.
47114 was one of the small batch of Class 47s that actually began life as what eventually known as Class 48, fitted with a Sulzer 12LVA engine. It was converted into a Class 47 after that engine was removed, and sent to France for fitting into a SNCF 68000 series loco. The Sulzer 12LDA28C engine that was fitted afterwards was actually salvaged from scrapped D1908. 47114 itself was scrapped by Booths, Rotherham, in 2005, just 5 years after this photo.
