For a time I recall that the Freightliner sector (as it was then) had a power shortage, and as a result "hired-in" traction from the Trainload Freight sector. Case in point, here is the compelling sight of two "Growlers", nos 37178 and 37218, at the head of a west-bound Freightliner, making a racket as they pass through Eastleigh station at 09.12.

37178 still has a railway career, now as 97303 and working for Network Rail. 37218 is also with us, as part of the DRS fleet.
