Barnstaple: Having arrived on the 15.30 Exeter St. Davids to Barnstaple service, 33039 is running around the stock for the return journey. By now the line onward to Bideford and Torrington had been closed for a couple of years, and the track would soon be lifted. I had travelled up on this train from Exeter, and would return south on the same service.

Today, the station environs have changed considerably, with just a single line termination at the platform, and the surrounding area developed for an out of town-style retail park. But the track-bed where the '33 is seen, and the former down platform, still remain, out of use.
