From time to time the engineers siding at Chard Junction might host a track machine, but not that often, and for most of the year the siding appears to be left empty. So, this is a sight to behold indeed! For a week in October 2014 it was necessary to base one of the new Swedish Railvac machines here, complete with two Class 31s and a couple of PNA spoil wagons. DCR 31452 is seen at the end of the siding at 17.21, with the Dairy Crest creamery as a back drop. Whether there will ever be another train like this stabled here is open to conjecture. What is definite is that the creamery won't form the backdrop to any future photos: that disappeared completely after a year-long demolition project came to a conclusion in December 2016! The sidings here actually formed the rail entrance to the creamery when it was still dispatching milk tanks up to 1980.
