At 14.00 South Western Railway Class 159 no. 159021 shoots through Chard Junction at line speed, hurrying the 1L29 11.20 London Waterloo to Exeter St. Davids westwards. Meanwhile, stabled in the milk sidings is Colas Rail Plasser & Theurer 08-16/4x4C100-RT tamper no. DR73931, back yet again for a few days work overnight on the line west from here. This tamper could almost call Chard Junction its second home! That redundant yard lamp post/telegraph pole between the trains is a link with the past!
