Caroline visits Chard! And it’s a long way from Loch Awe for 37409!
At 09.40, on time, the former Class 203 "Hastings" DEMU trailer restaurant buffet car, no. 975025 "Caroline", is propelled into the loop by large-logo Class 37 no. 37409 "Lord Hinton". This is the 2Z02 08.46 Exeter St. Davids to Kensington Olympia special working, taking a group on a two-day tour over the GWR route to Exeter (Wednesday) and the LSWR route back to London (today). I'm sure it's hard work really!
It was great to see large-logo on this route again. There have been other large-logo Class 37s through here in recent times, but only on late-night and early-morning test trains, but this is the first time, for a long time, that I have seen it in daylight on this route.
Once named “Loch Awe”, 37409’s appearance on the old Southern main line is far-removed from its original territory when it was once one the stalwarts of the ETH Class 37 fleet of the West Highland Line in Scotland during the 1980s.
I wonder if this is Caroline's first visit too?
