Arriva Cross Country "Voyager" Class 220 no. 220030 heads west at 09.24 on the 1V42 06.10 Derby to Plymouth service. Part of the everyday scene on this line, and likely to be the case for a long time yet, I still find staring at the ballast far more stimulating than these dreadful trains! But the sun was out and for record purposes it's worth recording a few. What came next was infinitely more interesting....
