No.9's last journey to the west country? Who knows, but that's the general consensus as the pacific contemplates incarceration inside John Cameron's new museum, if it gets built, as a static exhibit. With the prospect of a withdrawal from service in early 2020 many were out for their last chance to photograph the Gresley A4, although just a handful of people were at this particular location.
At 10.58 no. 60009 "Union of South Africa" blasts out of the tunnel with a blow of the whistle, as it gradually picks up speed after the haul uphill. This is Pathfinder Tour's last "Torbay Express" of the season, the 1Z27 08.00 Bristol Temple Meads to Kingswear (for Dartmouth). The train left Bristol 22 minutes down, but was close to on-time running at this point. A marvellous sight.
