29th June 2019

I haven't been to this location for four years so it was about time I returned. And what a lovely spot it is, although probably better for afternoon shots in this direction. You are so far away from the roads the silence is golden, and it being a hot, sultry summers day it was just glorious, if not a little hazy.
"The Mazey Day Cornishman" bursts out of the tunnel at 09.40 hauled by Direct Rail Services Class 37s nos. 37218 and 37059. This is a Pathfinder Railtour. 68004 "Rapid" is dead in transit on the rear of the train.
This tour was originally booked for a Deltic, 55009 "Alycidon", but that went "bang" earlier in the year so these 37s were second choice. I would have liked to have seen a couple of large-logo units, but beggars can't be choosers. I'm sure everyone on board was having a great day out.
