(2) I had to take a picture at this famous location: Talerdigg Summit, the highest point on the line and the location of some of the most dramatic and impressive performances by steam locomotives on the line. The station here closed in 1965 but a passing loop remains, as seen here. There was a signal box which closed in 1988 when radio token signalling was introduced.
At 11.05 Network Rail's Class 97s nos. 97304 "John Tiley" and 97303 growl over the summit with Pathfinder Railtour's "Cambrian Coast Express", the 1Z30 05.39 Bristol Temple Meads to Pwllheli.
97304 was formerly Class 37 no. 37217, and 97303 was once 37178.
