Preserved Ruston 48DS 4-wheel shunter no. DS1174 "Yeo" is operating the Clifton Bank shuttles at the Yeovil Railway Centre. Built in December 1961 this diminutive little engine started its career at a glassworks in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, and ended up at its last industrial location at Harworth, Nottinghamshire. There used to be another 48DS loco based at Yeovil Junction, operating in the permanent way sidings during the 1960s, so this type of engine is not new to the area. Class 50 no. 50050 "Fearless" is in the background, at the time undergoing a long and protracted restoration, one that was never completed at Yeovil in the end.
