7th May 1987

Bill Love, relief signalman, gives a friendly wave to the driver of 50014 "Warspite" as it powers away from the station on the 14.17 Exeter St. Davids to London Waterloo service.
Warspite was one of the earlier withdrawals, being taken out of service later in the year, in December. Vic Berry's of Leicester scrapped her in 1989. A little known fact that I discovered about this loco recently is that it was almost certainly the only Class 50 to ever work through the electrified Woodhead Tunnel, a football special in March 1970.
