Viewed from close to Victoria West Junction is BR Provincial "Merseyrail" liveried Class 142 no. 142051 heading away on an unknown service. To the right is the derelict remains of Irwell Bridge Sidings signal box, an LMS-designed box built in 1929, out of use by 1981 and officially closed in 1988. Demolition came about on 31st May 1998: a long and lingering death!
