THE STACK!
The most bizarre sight I think I have ever seen during the years pursuing this hobby of mine. As the site at Humberstone Road was restricted Vic Berry's had to find an imaginative way of storing locos, as they were arriving faster than they could cut them. Solution? Remove the power plant and ancillary equipment, take them off their bogies and stack them ready to be processed one at a time later. On the day of this visit there were 37 Class 25s and 27s in the stack. the number varied week by week. I attempted to records all of them and I did succeed although all these years later my notes are not as clear as I would hope! This is what I can confirm:
25058 (ex-Laira), 25199 and 25034, immediately to the left of the trailer, on the bottom row.
25095 top left.
25285, 25042 and 25089, the end locos on the right, on top of each other.
25324, to the left of 25285 (no windows).
25212, left of 25042, centre row.
The others were as follows, in numerical order:
25093, 25126, 25134, 25154, 25161, 25164, 25180, 25192, 25193, 25207 (another ex-Laira loco at one time!), 25230, 25249, 25260, 25288, 25306, 25323, 25327 (last-built), 25902, 25906, 27002, 27010, 27017, 27026, 27045, 27055, 27063, 27208, and one other unidentified on the left end of the lower row.
Incredible!
