Let's face it: Class 31/4 no. 31439 is in a shocking state, its once-glorious Regional Railways livery disappearing fast as the sun and rust plays havoc with the bodywork. This was the once proud "North Yorkshire Moors Railway", a long, long way from that line now as it rots in the siding at Meldon Quarry. By March 2011 it was scrap metal.
