I seem to have a morbid fascination with derelict locomotives! For a while during the "noughties" Fragonset Railways, as they were, had a stock of mostly Class 31s in storage at Meldon, I guess for a source of spares or maybe eventual resurrection. Needless to say that never happened and they inevitably met with the gas axe in due course. But it was a strange sight for a few years as they gradually rusted away in the siding. Hardly a good advert for the fledgling Dartmoor Railway though. Seen from the footpath alongside is a Dogfish ballast hopper and locomotives 73103, 31437, 31415, 31423, 31439 and 31301. The former Virgin Mark II stock was being used by the railway.
