Class 37/0 no. 37011 is waiting to leave for the West Highland Line! This is the 18.20 Glasgow Queen Street to Oban service, and the 37/0 is on of the original Eastfield "growlers" allocated for WHL trains. The somewhat ad-hoc arrangement for the headlight on the front was a precursor to the more permanent fixed-beam headlight installed on all BR locos later in the eighties. I can hear the engine now, its English Electric prime mover straining to get away. Soon it'll be out of the city and heading up into the highlands and a long way from the crowds! Sadly 37011 had a bit of a bump with an EMU at Singer, Glasgow in 1987 and was scrapped in 1989.
