Class 47 no. 47001! Not the doyen of the class but under TOPS numerically the first. It sits under the overall roof at Queen Street having arrived with a rake of empty coaching stock. This loco was almost preserved, but it was not to be. Withdrawn in 1986 and donated to the Crewe Heritage Centre, preservation was abandoned and it was sadly scrapped in 1993.
