A large-logo Class 37/4 at Queen Street defines train travel in Scotland for me. Like previous visits, I'm preparing for a trip up the West Highland Line.
Here is 37411 "The Institution of Railway Signal Engineers" standing next to a Class 156 (the future for passengers on these routes), no doubt waiting to attach itself to stock for a train for Oban or Fort William. 37411 still had another 24 years to go, but was eventually scrapped in 2013. One of the cabs can be found in the beer garden (more like a yard!) of the Alexandra Hotel in Derby. It sits there like a grotesque hunter's trophy.
