Outside the Ryde St. Johns depot is Class 483 no. (483)008 - car nos. 228 & 128. These 80+ year old units have just been retired, themselves having replaced even older Class 485 units that had dated from 1923. Built in 1938, these Class 483 units were refurbished between 1989 and 1992 before transfer to the island. A nice retirement home for them!
