At 17.15 Class 483 no. (483)009 arrives at Ryde St. Johns with the 17.08 Ryde Pier Head to Shanklin. Passengers get ready to jump on. When opened in 1864 this station was the northern terminus of the Isle of Wight railway. The line extended to Ryde Pier Head in 1880. Over to the right are the main workshops where the EMUs are stabled and maintained.
