23rd March 2019 - Yeovil Pen Mill, Somerset
(1) My second set of classic traction for today (see my shots in the Curry Rival gallery for the "Class 50 Terminator - Phoenixed" railtour)! At 15.22 two Class 33s enter the station whilst working the 1Z34 14.40 Weymouth to Crewe "The Marching Crompton II" railtour, operated by the Branch Line Society.

On the front is preserved 33012 - D6515 "Lt. Jenny Lewis RN", normally based on the Swanage Railway, and West Coast Railway's 33029. The latter worked the train down to Crewe and 33012 ran light engine from Swanage to Weymouth to double-head the train back. It's quite a sight to see these two working together - possibly the first double-headed Class 33 train on the main line for many, many years.
