29th April 1987

29th April 1987 - Yeovil Pen Mill, Somerset
A wide view from the north end of the station, which shows perfectly the unusual arrangement of a single line served by two platforms. It looks like the weather could be unsettled this evening, with clouds building in the south. The station lights are on as it gets a bit "dumpsy". 33027 "Earl Mountbatten of Burma" waits with the 19.33 Weymouth to Bristol Temple Meads, and Class 117 DMU set no. B438 heads in the opposite direction on the 19.40 Westbury to Weymouth service. The celebrity Crompton, which was usually kept in good condition cosmetically, had another 4 years of seevice and was eventually scrapped at Eastleigh Works in 1992.
