7th Nov 1991 - Parkandillack branch, Cornwall
(3) Hanging about by Burngullow JunctIon, before long 37669, and its friendly crew, drew-out its train of mostly Cargowaggons from Blackpool Clay Driers and paused right alongside us waiting for permission to head up the branch to Parkandillack. We grasped the initiative and asked the question "any chance of a ride up the branch.", but expecting to be turned down straight away. So, it was more than a surprise when the reply was on the lines of "Sure, but you'll have to travel up in the rear cab"! We couldn't get on quick enough!

So there we were, claiming our seats on either side of the rear cab of Laira's 37669, not really knowing where we were heading, or how long it would take. I did remember to lock my car, didn't I? Oh well, too late. It'll be ok, it's only Cornwall after all!

As it happened, the train was bound for Kernnick Dries, Treviscoe, so not quite to the end of the branch. When we got there we hopped out to take photos of the loco shunting its train of Cargowaggons and former Tiger Rail PBA bogie hoppers around the complex. I was surprised by just how many sidings there seemed to be. In this view the 37 is pushing the train into the ECC depot. It was a wet day and the china clay was sticking to our shoes and everything. It was a mess! You should have seen the state of the cab!
