Parkandillack branch, Cornwall
This long single line branch was opened by the Newquay and Cornwall Junction Railway as a broad gauge line, in 1869. Taken over by the Cornwall Minerals Railway in 1874 it was eventually brought into the GWR empire, having earlier been converted to standard gauge. I have visited the line just a few times and it is good that china clay services are still almost daily on this route, despite some significant contraction in rail transport for the "white gold" in recent years. I've even managed to get a cab ride up to Treviscoe!
