27th May 2009

I'm at Mills of Muchalls, and specifically the Easter Muchalls Viaduct, and at 15.46 a lightly-loaded 4A13 12.20 Grangemouth to Aberdeen intermodal train is approaching the viaduct, hauled by DRS Class 66 no. 66422. The load includes some ASDA supermarket boxes, a colourful addition to the load. That's the North Sea beyond.
This delightfully-named viaduct was built in 1850, rebuilt in 1866 and comprises 4 spans with plate girders, spanning the Burn of Muchalls.
