31st July 2000

On a lovely summer's Monday morning at 11.36, the Monday-only 6O92 10.16 Exeter Riverside to Dollands Moor china clay service. The train includes 10 very-new "Imerys" JIA china clay hoppers. So new, in fact, that you can still see their original blue paint! They soon became very weathered and lost their colour.
The photo was taken from the A38 road bridge at Bathpool, which was an OK place to stand, but as the road is generally busy you get a lot of strange looks, not that this bothers me an awful lot! EWS Class 66 no. 66246 is in charge, a loco that is now to be found working in France for DB Cargo subsidiary Euro Cargo Rail (ECR).
