Confirming that the weather over this route can be pretty grim at times, here is my shot, at 14.01, of 66004 slogging up the gradient at Ais Gill, in the rain, with a load of 25 wagons forming the 6K05 12.18 Carlisle Yard to Crewe Basford Hall engineer's train. Despite the weather, I was resolved to get the shot, and the photo exudes the atmosphere and remoteness of the line at this location that we’re all familiar with!
