Having arrived as the 12.40 Glasgow Queen Street to Oban, Scotrail's 156478 is biding time at 15.40 in readiness to return on the 16.00 departure back to Glasgow. The feint winter sun belies the fact that it's bitterly cold and I'll not be standing around here for long. Not the train for me though. Rather, a brisk walk to the Oban Distillery and a wee dram to warm the cockles! McCaig's Tower (sometimes referred to as McCaig's Folly) overlooks the town as it has done since it was completed in 1902.
