10th August 1983

37190 waits at Mallaig with the 12.25 to Glasgow Queen Street. I had walked up out of the station and up around the corner, not sure if I could get a different view of the train, so you can imagine how please I was to be rewarded with this scene, looking across the water towards Armadale on the Isle of Skye. Behind the train is the old loco shed referred to in the previous picture, with all kinds of detritus connected to the fishing industry scattered about. There's even a grounded box wagon, being used for storage. All this has gone, now that a new road runs along here, but you cannot change the panorama out to sea. For me, this was a memorable first visit, one to remember. Happy days!
