Snaefell Mountain Railway

Using the Fell Incline Railway System of adhesion, where a centre rail is used for braking purposes, a ride on this line is a must if you are visiting the island. Mind you, you have to be lucky with the weather, which I was, up to a point, during my visit. Low cloud seems to hang around most of the time, and on our arrival it was still drifting about, although did clear up enough to reward us with some stunning views. Apparently on a clear day you can see England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland from the summit. I'll take their word for it!
