Isle of Man

On my list of places to go for a very long time, but seemingly always out of reach, I had the fortunate opportunity to eventually get there for a couple of days in 2017. As it happened my visit coincided with the annual national holiday, Tynwald Day, 5th July. This is the ancient parliamentary body of the Isle of Man, and this day is when the Tynwald meets on a hill at St. Johns to enact various laws and receive petitions. For what seems such a significant event in the annual calendar, the island seemed very calm and un-busy. So I suppose everyone was in St. Johns!
