Newport Alexandra Dock Junction Yard, Gwent

This was once a busy yard, and still is fairly well used today, located close to the site of the former Ebbw Junction depot. Ebbw Junction, up to Ebbw Vale, is almost opposite the yard, the junction being formed like a triangle with access both east and west. The Dock line itself is still used. My first images were taken by accessing the scrap of land close to McDonalds, the view from the bank in the afternoon and early evening being very good, almost in both directions. I suspect that the view will have changed as vegetation may well have grown substantially since my visits in the early 2000s, and electrification of the main line here will also impede on the view.
