Tug on the sea wall! DB Cargo Class 60 no. 60024 "Clitheroe Castle" leans into the super-elevated curves along the sea wall at Ferryside at 18.49. It nearly caught me out as it was due 19.04 and I almost had my eye "off the ball". This is 6B33 13.49 Theale Puma to Robeston Sidings empty oil tanks. The driver gives me a friendly acknowledgement as the train passes me. It was moving at a fast pace too, a lot faster than I expected.
This was the main objective for me today - a Class 60 in West Wales on the oil train to Robeston. For a very long time I have wanted to photograph one of these trains on the sea wall at Ferryside. The plan was wait for good weather before the 3 hour drive, so imagine my disappointment when the evening train seemed not to be running. Happily it was later activated, and I must admit that given that the morning loaded train had run I expect it to return empty. So all went well in the end! It was a lovely evening and luckily the tide was out too! You too can enjoy the experience by visiting my You Tube channel and see the train pass along on this fine spring evening: https://youtu.be/q0fNjSkzZqo
