20th Sept 2019

Haverfordwest station at 18.15 in the evening, and some lovely late summer sun. Former Arriva Trains Wales Class 175 DMU no. 175111 is just pulling away after arriving 8 minutes down on the 1V34 06.30 Manchester Piccadilly to Milford Haven service. There seemed to be quote a number of people getting off, and a good few getting on, heading for the lights of metropolitan Milford Haven! The services in Wales are now operated by Transport for Wales (now, there's a snappy brand for passengers to remember!)
Effectively now just a single line branch from Clarbeston Road, the station used to have a centre through road, as evidenced by the empty trackbed to the right of the train. When the line was singled in 1988 the semaphore signalling was replaced. The lines in West Wales are now controlled (currently - 2019) from the signal box at Clarbeston Road. Despite all of the rationalisation the station still exudes an air of tradition. Nice to see the red telephone box on the left.
