I have many fond memories of travelling behind "Peak" Class 45/1 no. 45118 "Royal Artilleryman", both on the Midland Main Line and on cross-country trains to and from the south west. But by now it was withdrawn and preserved at the railway here, stood alongside a stored Peckett saddle tank, but to my knowledge it has never since turned a wheel under its own power. At the time of writing (2021) it is stored at Loram, Derby and owned by Locomotive Diesels Ltd with a feint prospect of restoration and operation on the mainline! We'll see.
